SYNOPSIS
Proper disposal prevents pollution from ships. An accidental or deliberate discharge of waste from a ship can damage ocean habitat, contaminate food chains or harm marine life. This volume of waste produces pressures on the environment, particularly with respect to ship-generated waste disposal at home ports and ports of call. This webinar aims to share the guidelines taken by Marine Department (Jabatan Laut) and also the RMN towards requirements for ship waste management system.
The titles of this webinar will explain the preventive measures against sea pollution implemented by the Marine Department (Jabatan Laut) and also the RMN based on the acts and guidelines that have been issued by the International Maritime Organization and Malaysia. This topic will also cover the issues surrounding ships' waste, associated impacts on home ports and ports of call, and the future planning by RMN towards a green environment.
