SYNOPSIS

Reservoir engineering is one of the technical disciplines in the petroleum engineering which is devoted to the ultimate source of value to oil and gas companies (Exploration & Production operators). Through all reservoir sub-disciplines (reservoir analysis, characterization, engineering, technologies management, tools and process management), reservoir engineers endeavor to increase hydrocarbon production, as well as to maximize recovery in production assets. A Reservoir Engineer with highly technical skill-sets is required to apply innovative solutions, and the primary responsibility is using advanced numerical simulation techniques to forecast the total hydrocarbon available for extraction (reserves calculations) for both green and brown fields for developing strategies to maximize recovery throughout the life of a field. These calculations are performed to help engineers to create field development plans, well proposals, recovery procedures and reservoir management programs. In addition, reservoir engineers model fluid dynamics for the surface piping networks that transport produced hydrocarbons from the wellbore to production facilities. A sought-after niche engineering skill, the career path can take an engineer to the top management level in the major oil and gas companies or lucrative compensation package for the technical experts. This talk will share the work experiences and challenges as a Reservoir Engineer.

BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ms. Glenda Chang

Ms. Glenda Chang is the founder and CEO of Strallex Group of companies who started her career as a Reservoir Engineer more than 20 years ago. She held various technical and managerial positions in the oil and gas companies prior to shifting her career path in setting up her own businesses in oil and gas project management, which is continue focusing in reservoir engineering services. She has also diversified and expanded into other industries, such as property development and construction, technology enhancements and automation, and medical supplies. She received the prestigious awards of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Young Outstanding Member and the Top40Under40 Malaysia.
