SYNOPSIS
6G (sixth-generation wireless) is the successor to 5G cellular technology. 6G networks will be able to use higher frequencies than 5G networks and provide substantially higher capacity and much lower latency. One of the goals of the 6G internet is to support one microsecond latency communications. This is 1000 times faster or 1/1000 the latency than one millisecond throughput.
The 6G technology market is expected to facilitate large improvements in the area of imaging, presence technology and location awareness. Working in conjunction with artificial intelligence (AI), the 6G computational infrastructure will be able to identify the best place for computing to occur; this includes decisions about data storage, processing and sharing. In this Talk session, the speaker will discuss the emerging use cases, evolution towards 6G, enabling technologies, network architectures, challenges and opportunities.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Shankar Duraikannan received his PhD in Communication and Network Engineering from University Putra Malaysia in 2017, Master of Theology in 2018, Master of Technology from Anna University in 2000 and Bachelor of Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1996. He is an enthusiastic academician with 21 years of experience in teaching Electronics and Communication Engineering for undergraduate and postgraduate students at Higher Education Institutions of India, Rwanda, Libya and Malaysia and with zeal for research in 5G/6G Networks, Millimetre-Wave Radio over Fibers, and Optical Networks.
He is proficient in teaching and learning activities, curriculum development, laboratory establishment, journal editorial works, conference organization, engineering programme accreditation and ISO audits.
