SYNOPSIS
The International Electrotechnical Commision (IEC) authors international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies. The standards collection addresses product development, performance, compatibility and related topics in order to ensure product compatibility and environmental safety. Countries are becoming increasingly interdependent. Products are manufactured, assembled and sold in countries that span the globe. Harmonised, globally agreed technical standards ensure that components are able to work together correctly so that the final product is safe and functional for the end-users and reducing barriers to trade.
