SYNOPSIS

PETRONAS is embarking new way of working as part of charting the future of oil and gas business. One of the new initiatives is application of digital technology. Digitalization, especially in pipeline engineering has been considered as a vital needs, especially during pandemic situation where multiple working arrangement being implemented, which limit the personnel access to the engineering software required to perform the engineering work.
Previous way of working are no longer able to support PETRONAS lean operation, such as monitoring and tracking, manual wet signature for deliverables preparation, review, inconsistent implementation of Technical Authority (TA) framework and time consuming to brief and present torelevant TA/AA for endorsement and approval of reports, non standardized design engineering spreadsheet, cost estimate and report formatting,high licensing and maintenance rental for commercial engineering software, hassle of installing client based software, time consuming for sourcing scattered design & previous project data and repetitive works for manually input data to multiple engineering analysis or report.

To resolve the above issue, PETRONAS has developed integrated digital system for pipeline engineering. It is not merely a software. It is a system,in which all database and work will be stored in cloud, such as documents such as design reports, cost estimate report, value engineering (VE),comment response sheet (CRS) and signatory.

It has structured database for design data and final documentation. Automated data input to multiple engineering analysis and report, and
it is paperless process, accessible by anyone (currently within PETRONAS Network only), anywhere and anyway (various type of devices).

This sharing session is intended to improve industry awareness, understanding and knowledge on PETRONAS direction in digitalization, as well asobtaining feedback from industry on what is their current pain points so that PETRONAS can contribute to resolve the issue.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

1) I Wayan Eka Putra

I Wayan Eka Putra has more than twenty years’ experience in consultant, contractors and oil & gas operating company, covers engineering design, procurement, construction/fabrication, operation,inspection, maintenance repair and rehabilitation for oil and gas pipelines.

He is currently a Staff (Specialized) Pipeline Engineer, Offshore Design, in Group Technical Solutions (GTS) PETRONAS, appointed as Technical Authority for Pipeline Projects within PETRONAS, Malaysian and international operation, including Joint Ventures (JV). In addition, he is also Discipline Resource Person (DRP) for Offshore Pipeline and Geotechnical Skill Group, regular trainer at Institute Technology PETRONAS (INSTEP) for conducting various Level 1 & 2 Pipeline Engineering Skill Group trainings. He is also responsible to update or develop new for PETRONAS Technical Standards (PTS), PETRONAS Technical Guideline (PTG), and PETRONAS in-house pipeline engineering software. He is key person for qualification, and development of new technology for pipeline in PETRONAS.


2) Norliza Salihin

Norliza Salihin has fourteen years’ experience in design and installation of offshore pipelines projects. She is a Senior Pipeline Engineer (Offshore Design) in Group Technical Solutions (GTS), PETRONAS. She is the focal person for digitalization in PETRONAS pipeline engineering, and key person for the development of PETRONAS Pipeline Engineering Solutions (P-PiES). She is currently been assigned to GTS for various Front End projects execution.
