SYNOPSIS
IEM Conditions of Contract for Mechanical & Electrical Works was first published in 1994. With the publication of the IEM Conditions of Contract for Civil Engineering Works in 2011, the Institution feels that it is necessary to revise the conditions of contract for mechanical and electrical engineering works as well. This task was entrusted to the Sub-Committee on Engineering Contracts.
IEM Form of Contract for Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Works (as it how been renamed), or IEM.ME2012 in short, is a complete departure from its predecessor. Being part of the IEM suite of Conditions of Contract, the conditions has been harmonized with the Conditions of Contract for Civil Engineering Works adopting the same approach in the drafting. An opportunity has been taken to also take into consideration new developments.
The Seminar will provide an opportunity for potential users to familiarize with this form of contract. The speaker will highlight the particular provisions related to mechanical and electrical works. He will also elaborate on the meaning of shop drawings and bills of quantities which are often misinterpreted in the context of M&E works.
