SYNOPSIS

Dashboarding has become noticeable and common these days even though it was rare in the beginning of open source movement back in 2000.
With accelerated development of open source enterprise EMS, ENMS, VoIP and OSes among the open source communities worldwide, users started to appreciate graphical tools and advantage of dashboarding.  Development of dashboard tools among various open source communities has given the community many options in using graphical dashboarding tools, among them, is the ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) which has created a lot of interest in dashboarding tools development.

It is no longer just graphical representation of business information but also reflecting data usage in many forms; in real-time and static environment. Sources of information to reflect on dashboard no longer just log-files, but from real-time sources like databases, GPS and PLC as well.
In view of current economy situation worldwide shaken by COVID19, businesses big and small are facing tremendous challenges for survival and adopting to the new normal of operation.  Therefore exploration and adaptation of new ways of operating one’s businesses is necessity.

With the completion of our own integration of various OSS software, consolidated into 5 open source platforms from Telecommunication, Office IT, IP Management, Online Meeting Collaboration and Training, and Enterprise Security Platform, we are achieving our full adoption of open source software in a typical office environment through a planned journey (either immediately or gradually).  Further enhancement of business applications suit is also achievable without major cost.

This talk will share with audience our experience and technologies needed to switch from old ways of using business tools and infrastructure, to more advanced and much less expensive ones to ascertain short and long term business survival of any business worldwide including Malaysia.


SPEAKER’S PROFILE

Mr L. C. Chen

L.C. Chen is presently the Managing Director of Sita Group of Companies, a company involved in providing SI and outsourceing services to major clients in Malaysia until year 2000. Since then he has fully focused in awareness,promotion and deployment of open source telecommunication technology called Asterisk and other platforms from the beginning. He has completed and launced an enterprised cloud platform called sitanetwork.com and a cloudpbx services overseas. After 5 years stink working in UK telecommunication R & D company called CASE.  He served NCR Malaysia, subsequently NCR APA and AT & T and lead in computerisation of many banking and government sectors in computerisation of many major corporates in Malaysia and within Asean region. Currently is focusing in providing open source expertise and services in enterprise solutions development and development of cloud services for any corporation who are looking for such affordable services. He graduated from University of Reading, England, U.K. in 1976 with B. Sc.- in Mathematics & Computer Science. He is a Member/EXCO of MNCC, KLSCCCI, and FGBMF. Professional working experiences include working in NCR and AT & T locally and Asia-Pacific region. Promoting Open Source Software and Hardware is one of his passion and business.
