SYNOPSIS
Oil & Gas operators have many offshore unmanned (satellite) platforms are situated far away from the Central Processing Platforms. There are several ways to provide power to these satellite platforms, either from renewable or non-renewable source. The trend for Oil & Gas operators is for a more sustainable and renewable energy to power up the instrument loads at these unmanned platforms.
Solar Power is one of the most suitable renewable solutions currently being adopted in this industry due to the consistent solar output for Malaysia’s tropical climate. The Solar PV system is designed to be fully off grid and sustainable, and able to provide the power to the instrument load, typically ranging from 500W to 2kW or more depending on requirement.
The future of Solar PV systems is the hybridization with wind turbines. Sedia Teguh has been the first to offer the solar hybrid wind turbine solution with its main objective is to increase the reliability of the renewable system. Sedia Teguh has started to design and supply Solar PV systems for Offshore customers in Malaysia since 2010 and had been supplying solutions to Oil & Gas operators in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. From 2015, Sedia Teguh started to offer our innovative solar hybrid wind turbines (SHWT), with gradual acceptance in the oil & gas industry.
For this talk, we will introduce the Solar PV system and its components for the Oil & Gas industry, pictures of a typical installation, specifications from Oil & Gas operators (Petronas) and how we design the system to fulfil client’s requirements.
