SYNOPSIS
Pedestrian Simulation has been used for a number of years to improve the planning of people movements through many types of transport developments. This discussion shows the benefits of adopting pedestrian simulation for planning multiple types of developments, from transport- related sites (rail, bus, airport, etc.) through to many other types of developments. These include stadia, hospitals, large buildings, retail centres, religious sites, attractions –indeed any area with large numbers of people and complex interactions. We will show how adopting pedestrian simulation can help improve circulation, level of service, save space, improve retail opportunities. Applicable to both new and existing sites, these approaches are relevant to Architects, Developers, Transport Engineers and private/public planners.
