SYNOPSIS
Due to low productivity levels in the construction industry, there is a continuous urge for its improvement by using those innovative techniques and methods already adopted by other industries. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is one of the innovative techniques and methods introduced in the architecture, engineering, and construction fields to increase its productivity. BIM is a process of developing, using, and transferring project information through a 3D model by using digital technology to improve the delivery system throughout the project and asset life cycle. The benefits of BIM have driven the construction industry to introduce BIM in construction projects. When properly implemented, BIM can provide many benefits to a project such as reducing conflicts during construction, improving collective understanding of design intent, improving overall project quality, reducing changes during construction, etc. The construction industry-main goal in adopting BIM is to increase productivity and efficiency. The construction industry in Malaysia led by the Ministry of Works continuously promotes BIM implementation to enhance professionals' and organizations’ awareness and encourage them to adopt the BIM process and implement it in their work environment. It is hoped that this webinar can give exposure and disseminate knowledge in BIM implementation and its advantages in a project.
