SYNOPSIS
The word ‘hazardous’ is always a taboo for construction materials manufacturers. It is considered as an unthinkable action to be used in the products as it may cause unpredictable results and dangerous. However, due to large amount of hazardous waste produced every day, one may shall consider utilizing it after proper treatment. Currently, the manufacturing sector is the major contributor in hazardous waste generated in Malaysia. However, the management of hazardous waste in Malaysia is effectively growing as a result of continuous review of the regulations and enforcement of the acts. This topic will discuss on the current practice of hazardous waste management in Malaysia and its future in the production of construction materials.
SPEAKER BIODATA
Ir. Dr. Salmaliza Salleh received her PhD in Engineering from University of Malaya in 2018, Masters in Project Management from National University of Singapore in2007 and Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2004. Her research passion is in stabilization and solidification of hazardous waste. She was the lecturer in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA for more than 5 years before attached to SEGi University in 2009. Currently she is the Lead Civil and Structural Engineer, MTC Engineering Consultancy Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as MTC Floating Solutions Sdn. Bhd.), promoting the utilization of various waste materials in the production of concrete for construction works.
