SYNOPSIS
What happens when all the oil in an area offshore is “dried up”? You must remove the mega-structure that you called a platform from the middle of the sea. Before you can even do that, you need to plug and abandon the wells that has been producing for the past 30 to 40 years. This what we call wells decommissioning. The oil & gas industry around the world is at this stage now where many projects has reached their end of life.
The talk will introduce you the requirements, method and issues surrounding the well decommissioning. Engineers in the oil & gas industry as well as the service providers or anyone who wants to expand their knowledge will find this talk beneficial.

Drilling Engineering Consultant
Ir. Razak is a drilling engineering consultant in the oil and gas industry with more than 20 years experience working for both multinational and local organisations; and on projects in many parts of the world. Ir. Razak is the Deputy Chairman of the Oil, Gas and Mining Technical Division.
