SYNOPSIS

The industrial revolutions have gone through four eras (Manual, Electrical, Automation/Internet, Intelligence) and we are in the 3rd and 4th eras aka IR 3.0 & 4.0.  The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
IR4.0 and IOT (Internet of Things, encompassing both mobile and fixed internet) are inextricably intertwined, hence the questions raised are similar and related. Throw 5G into the mix and we are perhaps seeing the ultimate evolution of automation.

-  Will robots replace our jobs?
-  What are the barriers to IR 4.0?
-  Is IOT at an inflection point?
-  What is the business case for IR 4.0 and IOT?
-  Will standards converge in a current world of seemingly disparate standards bodies?
-  Where is Malaysia in IR 4.0 and IOT?

The talks will include a brief history of the industrial revolutions, the state-of-the-art technologies, the promise of the future and the challenges faced.
